Two Athletes Honored At Student Recognition Banquet

Two weeks ago, Clinton Community College held their annual Student Recognition Banquet. Numerous awards were given out to students like the Award of Perseverance, Work Study of the Year, and the Emerging Leader award. Two current Clinton Community college athletes, and one former athlete received prestigious honors.

The Scholar Athlete Award is an annual award which is given out a male, and female athlete who excel not only on the field but in the classroom as well. Lucas Aube (Charlotte, VT) a First-Year Renewable Energy Technologies Major, and a member of the Men’s Basketball Program was the male recipient of the award. Aube was named to the Clinton Community College President’s List and posted a 3.8 GPA in the Fall of 2018. Katelyn Southwick (Rouses Point, NY) a First-Year Liberal Arts: Humanities/Social Sciences Major, with a Minor in Pre-Nursing and a member of the Women’s Soccer and Basketball teams, was the female recipient of the award. Southwick was also named to the Clinton Community College President’s List and posted a 3.8 GPA as well.

Mathieu Starke was awarded the Senator of the Year for the 2018/2019 Academic Year. Starke is a former Men’s Soccer player for Clinton Community College and has been helping the Athletics Department ever since. He wears many hats in the department including: Official Scorekeeper for Soccer and Basketball games, photographer, Basketball statistician, as well as anything else where help is needed.
